Pizza Party
As promised at the beginning of the year, we had a pizza party to celebrate those kids that worked hard all year long to read 100 take-home books. We had 12 kids join in the fun with pizza, pop, and ice cream treats! Congratulations to McKenna, Trevor, Mariah, Ty, Ethan, Makenzie, Isabel, Markus, KaDence, Kiana, Jeremy and Camille! Keep reading all summer long!
Baby Birds
Mrs. Nieland invited us to her classroom this spring to see the baby chicks and eggs that she and her classes were raising. We got a chance to see baby chickens, baby quail, and baby ducks. The kids LOVED their time and even got to hold babies!
Teach Children to Save
A HUGE thank you to the First Community Bank staff. We had two bank employees come into our school and read a book and discuss the importance of saving money. Then, we walked to the bank here in Newell and had a tour and learned all about the places in the bank and what the machines do at the bank to help. The kids really enjoyed their learning and the trip to the bank. Please be sure to say thanks if you stop in. Thanks again, First Community Bank!
Conservation Poster Winner
Our class participated in the Buena Vista County Conservation Poster Contest. This year's theme was Where Does Your Water Shed? The kids worked hard to create a poster that showed water shed in our communities. Congratulations to Kiana and Ty who had honorable mention and placed in the winner's circle for BV County.
Science Program
Mrs. Corderman and her husband donated money to the elementary as a thank you for tornado clean-ups last year. The school used the money to get a science program. The kids learned about all kids of chemical reactions and effects.
